The news has been circulating for a few weeks now but in case you haven't heard Yahoo will be raising their domain name renewal price to $34.95 per year effective July 1, 2008. Ouch!
Fortunately other providers appear to be keeping prices low for now. We like Namecheap, and you can use our Namecheap coupon to transfer your domains to them for a year at the low price of just $8.41

It is realy not acceptable pricing. I am have just moved all my domain to http://www.luckyregister.com/ their domain transfer prices are $6.95, no quantity limited.

It looks like many person in the same boat! I heard that Yahoo make no profit with domain business and they are looking for the way to minimize this loss by increase domain prices. Yes, it is the time to act for Yahoo domains now. I have found new registar with cheap domain transfers rates (whonami.com) and I will start moving now!
As the increase infomation has been sent out by email from Yahoo and you see nothing about pricing increase from your Yahoo domain account so for sure, many persons (did not read the email well) will cry when they see the bill!!!

First, it is possible that they want to go out from the domain business by driving their customers willingly out. I think it is a planned movement.
Second, most businesses buy the service as a package with hosting, emails etc. and they don't care the domain name price in the bill. Some of them are not quite knowledgeable about Internet and domain registrations as well. So, they will continue to pay blindly if the price even increases to $50 for a creepy domain name :)
